Craniosacral Therapy

A quiet conversation with the nervous system

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that listens to the subtle rhythms of the body — and gives a child's nervous system room to settle.

What it is

Light touch, deep listening

The craniosacral system is the fluid and membrane environment surrounding the brain and spinal cord. It has its own slow, steady rhythm — and that rhythm can be affected by birth, tension, illness, growth spurts and everyday life.

By resting my hands lightly on the head, spine and pelvis, I can feel where a body is holding on. From there, the work is mostly patience: following the tissue instead of pushing it, and letting the nervous system find its way back toward balance.

For babies and children this often looks like nothing much at all — a hand cradling a head, a few quiet minutes, a baby who suddenly sighs and sinks into your arms. That’s usually the moment the work is happening.

How a session unfolds

Every visit is shaped around your child, but the rhythm stays the same — unhurried, quiet and led by what we find.

  1. 01

    We talk first

You tell me what you've noticed — the feeding, the sleep, the fussy hours — and I listen.

  2. 02

    Your child stays clothed

Sessions happen fully clothed, usually with your little one held in your arms or resting on a soft table.

  3. 03

    Very light touch

My hands rest lightly on the head, spine and pelvis. Nothing is forced, and nothing should feel uncomfortable.

  4. 04

    Room to be a baby

Feeding, sleeping, crying and wriggling are all welcome. Your child doesn't have to hold still for this to work.

  5. 05

    What comes next

We talk through what I noticed, what you might watch for at home, and whether another session would help.

Gentle enough for a newborn

The touch used in craniosacral therapy is extremely light — often no more than the weight of a nickel.

Your child leads

We work with what their body is ready to release. Nothing is forced, and nothing should ever hurt.

Complementary care

This is a supportive therapy, not a replacement for your pediatrician, and I'm glad to coordinate with them.

What this work isn’t

  • It isn't a massage — there's no kneading or deep pressure.
  • It isn't a chiropractic adjustment — nothing is manipulated or cracked.
  • It isn't a diagnosis — I'll always encourage you to keep your medical team involved.

Curious whether this fits your child?

You don't need a diagnosis or a referral to book. If you'd rather ask a few questions first, call or email — I'm happy to talk it through.
